Organized through the joint initiative of Siemens DIS, 4SIM (Center for the Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution), local universities, and local partners, the Sustainable Design Hackathon 2025 brings together students to develop technological solutions for real-world challenges.

The main goal of this hackathon is to promote the development of real, innovative, and technological solutions that support sustainable growth in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region. Participants will be introduced to Siemens DIS’s cutting-edge technological ecosystem and receive individual and team-based mentorship. They will have the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of professional judges. Selected projects will receive both technical and business support, with opportunities for further development.
This hackathon marks the first phase of the International Scientific Conference “Digital Economy of Karabakh,” which will be held in Shusha in 2026. The most promising projects developed during the hackathon will be showcased at the conference and may be supported by companies operating in Karabakh, potentially turning into real job opportunities in the region.
Teams wishing to participate in the hackathon must consist of 3 to 5 members (team members can be from the same or different universities). All participants must be full-time 3rd or 4th year undergraduate or graduate (master’s) students. The application must include the team name, CVs of all participants, key technical and creative skills, as well as honest answers to motivation questions.
At least one team member must be a developer and hold the “Studio Pro Rapid Developer” certificate from Mendix Academy.

During the hackathon, the project must be developed using Mendix Studio Pro (a low-code platform owned by Siemens DIS) and presented on this platform.
The top ten teams will be awarded online learning courses from internationally certified platforms provided by Siemens DIS and 4SIM. All participants will receive certificates and exclusive hackathon merchandise. Accommodation for 24 hours, one lunch per day, and two coffee breaks will be provided as part of a full catering package for all participants.
